Travel Malaysia
Malaysia wraps a lot of places into one: a
bustling, cosmopolitan capital city; an island long favored by backpackers and
beach bums; and one of the world’s most diverse countries. This post discusses
what to see in Malaysia as well as some things that you should avoid. Get ready
for this South East Asia adventure!
What to travel Malaysia:
We’ve got the capital city of Kuala
Lumpur, but it’s also a center for Islamic heritage. The island is made up
largely of resorts—though there are some beaches, too.
You’ll find plenty of food in Kuala
Lumpur, and you’ll also find a variety of unique dishes. The food is spicy, and
the capital city is famous for its street food as well.
Malaysia is a fascinating country. Home to
exotic destinations, the long Malaysian beaches, and unexplored jungles
inhabited by elusive animals. This vast and diverse country offers something
for everyone to enjoy. Malaysia is also an inexpensive destination with lots of
budget-friendly accommodation options in most major cities and beach resorts
around the peninsula.
Performing arts are popular in Malaysia.
And yes, this means that there are places to see dance troupes performing on
the streets.
Kuala Lumpur is known for its
shopping—both clothing and jewelery. Jewelery in particular is very popular in
Malaysia . You can buy cheap, but there’s also a lot of quality work to be seen
as well.
While the island doesn’t have much more
than beaches, there are some interesting tours. You can see things from the
viewpoint of a native villager, for example, or you can be taken to a resort.
Malacca is also worth a daytrip as it has more greenery than Kuala Lumpur.
And then there are some things that you
should avoid in Malaysia:
Avoid Malaysian food in the capital city,
Kuala Lumpur. Most of the food is very spicy and not all that delicious. Local
outlets of Western fast-food chains are welcome alternatives. However if you
want to sample the local fare, head out to Batu Feringgi (near the airport) or
Batu Pahat (near Seri Kembangan).
If you like wearing cash, carry a lot of
it in your purse. Malaysia has brought a lot of people, including illegal ones,
into the country and this has created an underground economy that some people
have to pay for.
Avoid eating and drinking in the capital
city’s reputed red light district. While there are street vendors selling food and
drinks on the streets, it is often overcharged for. Instead take a short walk
to one of the many open air markets in Kuala Lumpur . You’ll get great food at
very reasonable prices from local vendors.
